Acceptable Use Policy

Electrical1 is built for homeowners and tenants who want to understand their electricity bill and spot wiring hazards. This policy lists uses we forbid because they harm users, mislead regulators, or put property at risk.

Electrical1 is a software product — a self-serve subscription to an AI application. It is classified as MCC 5734 / 7372 (computer software). It is not:

• An electrical contracting service (MCC 1731);
• An investment, mortgage, or financial advisory service (MCC 6282 / 6211);
• A management consulting firm (MCC 7392);
• An energy supplier or broker (MCC 4900);
• A 1:1 advisory, coaching, or paid-consultation service of any kind.

You may not present Electrical1 as any of the above to third parties.

• Submitting AI-generated audit outputs to insurance claims as if they were professional engineering reports;
• Submitting outputs to court proceedings, planning authorities, or building control as evidence of compliance;
• Submitting outputs to government energy rebate programmes or grant applications;
• Using outputs to certify rental properties for letting or HMO licensing — these require an EICR by a registered electrician.

• Performing DIY work on the consumer unit, ring mains, or fixed wiring based on the audit. UK BS 7671 requires a competent person.
• Bypassing or removing safety devices (RCDs, MCBs) recommended for replacement.
• Working on live circuits without isolating power.
• Modifying load-bearing structural elements to route cables.

• Sharing one account across multiple unrelated households for the purpose of bypassing audit allowances;
• Scraping, automated abuse, or attempting to extract our prompts or weights;
• Uploading imagery you do not have the right to upload (other people’s property without consent);
• Uploading content unrelated to your home electrical system (the Service is not a general image analyser);
• Harassing or impersonating other users, our support team, or third-party services we integrate with.

Letting agents and renovators may use Megawatt to audit multiple properties they manage, provided they disclose to their clients that audits are AI-generated and do not replace a registered electrician’s inspection. Contact us for a written agency addendum.

Electrical1 is not available in jurisdictions subject to comprehensive UK (OFSI), EU, or US (OFAC) sanctions. As of 2026-05-19, this includes Crimea, the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Russia / Belarus to the extent prohibited by the sanctions packages then in force. You also confirm you are not a Specially Designated National.

We may decline payment, suspend service, and report suspicious transactions in accordance with UK Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds Regulations and our payment processors’ underwriting requirements.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy. Egregious cases may be reported to law enforcement, professional bodies (NICEIC, NAPIT), or trading standards. Our payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Creem) may independently terminate processing for violations of their own Acceptable Use Policies.
